CRAZY SOUND ON THE RADIO
(Formerly GREEN LIGHTS by NRBQ)
NRBQ’s brilliant song about the fine art of heavy petting disguised as a song about cars and driving and street racing. When you hear NRBQ for the first time, something’s off…something’s different. You dig it, but you don’t know what it is. Well, it’s Terry Adams playing a clavinet through a Fender Twin Guitar Amp. It sounds killer. He’s an animal when he plays clavinet, and it’s pure unadulterated rock and roll.
This performance with the Mayocks at Nora’s in Southwick, MA is my homage to Terry’s Clavinet mastery. It’s kind of incestual, really….Terry playing a souped up Clavinet to sound like a hopped up guitar and me playing a guitar through a Digitech Whammy Pedal to sound like Terry’s Clavinet. It’s the coolest song, though!
Marshall Grossman? Billy Clock? on drums, John Mayock on Telecaster, Tim Mayock on Danelectro bass guitar, and me on Vocals and Stratocaster. Groovy.
