A DIFFERENT SKY
(formerly THE FIELD by The Legendary Max Creek)

I had musical heroes just like everyone else. The day I heard Scott Murawski do this song changed me for life. Screw the time signature, screw the key. We are going to blaze a path right through your skull with this song and get lost in the catacombs of your mind, somehow landing on the same planet; driving with such force you will NEED the following space-jam to decompress. It’s unfortunate that there’s two edits in here, but with bootleg tapes you just have to deal with that sometimes. Ironically, this was the only cover song we played around with and ‘made our own’. Others we would do faithfully, but here we were so comfortable with the source material we knew where to break off and still show our allegiance to the Creek. We went to a bunch of their shows when we could and had plenty of bootleg recordings of shows.
Shout to the Mini Moog (that Scotty’s Dad found him) doing all of that wild sweeping/mind-bending synth-type stuff you hear in the background! Shout out to delay pedals and Alessis delay rack systems and Keith Eisenlohr at the soundboard!
Shout out loud to hear yourself think after you listen to this!
SIDE NOTE:
This was a prophetic song to put in our setlist as just a few years later, Scotty would end up BEING the drummer for the Legendary Max Creek! What a cool moment it must have been for him to play this song with them for the first time. The sense of pride I felt knowing the work he put in to get where he had made me all warm and fuzzy.
