CAN’T FACE THE MORNIN’
(formerly LOOKS LIKE I’M UP SHIT’S CREEK AGAIN by Tom Waits)

Reading magazine articles when I was younger, I recall a section where Eric Clapton said he tried singing when he was younger but it ‘didn’t sound like Howlin’ Wolf or Muddy Waters’. So he refused to sing. He said he was 18. When I was a 20 year old, my cousin gave me a Tom Waits tape, a Lyle Lovett tape, and a Leon Redbone tape. Well….that changed my whole life. I didn’t have to be Robert Plant or Freddie Mercury to be a songwriter!! This is a song from the Tom Waits demo album that he doesn’t own the rights to, so don’t search for it. He won’t profit from any attention. The record industry is a horrible mistress, people.
