MUSIC (DEMOS)

WHY’D YOU HAVE TO PAINT MY PICTURE

The one thing all of these demos have had in common so far is that they have lyrics. Dom and I would be dying some nights at the acoustic shows when we would sing upwards of twenty five songs each. I would see bands in concert and in addition to the “bass solo” and “drum solo” part of the show, some would have instrumental songs that were even album tracks. During the Whitebread days, we even had an instrumental song called ‘Ode to a Brake Drum”. I thought that would be a great idea for us in Mr. Fables so I wrote this and “Dusty Beardgibbons”. Never got to try them though. I think Ryan Healy, who took over the drum throne during this period might have liked the challenge, and I’m bummed he and Kurt Rosenbecker on bass didn’t get to let it loose to this bossa nova thing. They would have made it their own for sure unlike the drum machine here which is pretty stale.
