43 TEQUILAS

My friend Lisa Edwards came up with this phrase. It was a one-off quip about how to relieve the frustration one feels after a stressful day, or somesuch event. I think. She may know better WHY she came up with it, I just know she DID come up with it. Immediately following her coming up with it, she said “That could be a song.” A fountain of ideas, she then posited that we should both go home and write a song called 43 TEQUILAS separately and compare notes the next day. We actually did so, and here is my version. It gets more and more dated every day by the references to Jackie Robinson and Mo Rivera, but this song would go over great in The Bronx and Brooklyn. Manhattan wouldn’t be able to sit around and wait for the words before it moved on to something else, Queens would feel unappreciated and Staten Island would miss the boat on this song completely.
Recorded with my grandfather’s 1960’s Yamaha Acoustic on an IPHONE 4 with the camera app to Youtube and then converted to MP3.
