POP SENSATION

I had the fortune of meeting a bunch of bands and musicians from Western Massachusetts in the years between 2012 and 2017. One such band was Gone By Daylight. I loved what they did because it was nowhere near anything I had ever done and they did it with style I would never own. These guys lived the band life making trips for zero cash to play in NYC with a car on fumes to play a 6 song set. They were young and restless and free. (Shit. That’s gotta be a Bob Seger lyric.) I wasn’t jealous at all, as it looked like hell half the time. They really could have been a Pop Sensation. Why not, I thought? Why not write them a song that proclaims the maxim? Why not make that song have only two chords and rely only upon charisma and dynamics. They had the chops to pull it off.

Of course I never sent it.
