I just got these songs back in January of ’25 after a 20 year absence. I saw the name of this and got worried. I was hoping it wouldn’t be a grim weeper. I’m happy to say I love it more now than I did back when! A friend told me they thought the song was sad and they felt bad for me. Thing was, I’ve never had a dog, never had a really nice carpet, or really anything remotely close to what’s in the song. Sometimes I just imagine what it would be like to be in that situation and write something. Now I gotta go listen again and see how unrealistic the couple in this song are!
