NO STRINGS ATTACHED
We go from a demo like ‘It Was A Sunday’ to a demo that made me question if I should stop working so hard on demos! I was getting so detail oriented with some of these things that, like here for instance, there was really no room for any of the band to ‘interpret’ their parts. When we did it live it sounded like this…we never really practiced it as a band. It was a good lesson to learn. Sure, it was the right song and a good job by everyone on learning it, but nothing will ever replace the act of repetitive practice. The more comfortable you get with a composition the easier it is to color outside the lines.
That being said, I still like this song. I used the Line 6 Variax on all the parts. The solo parts are done with the Gibson ES-335 setting, and it was the first time I’d heard that sound up close since going over to Keith Grazia’s house for dinner one night. He had a beautiful bright orange 335 and a Tube Screamer. Burned into my brain! Tried my best to do Keith proud here.
This song was written on MLK Day, and he is the prominent figure in the second verse, but the scary part is I wrote this in 2003. How about spending time on cars instead of our children’s futures?
All ruled by one computer!?
Who knew?
