LYING IN MY WAY

LYING IN MY WAY was written in 1993 at my parent’s house in my bedroom. I know this because I wrote three songs that night. This, STORM, and a slide blues song dedicated to the hot librarian lady in the Tears for Fears video for “Head Over Heels” that wasn’t as well thought out as those two. I never did get to record STORM, but used to play it regularly live with FLIPPER DAVE during 1995-96.
Back to this song, though. Dom and I loved this tune when we began Mr. Fables and I was really happy to bring it out when we played live. When we recorded it at the ROCK BARN, Pauly must’ve seen how much we loved it because he kept telling us to do extra guitar parts and percussion stuff. It came out damned near perfect, I think. I wish I could find the original demo. It wasn’t horrible. Rich Yirga on bass and Jonathan Lichtig on the brushes! I’m playing my Grandfather’s Yamaha Acoustic from the mid-60’s, and Dom does the second solo in the middle duel on a Godin that was brand spankin’. Quite a difference in tones and it works quite well.
