CLOSER!

Elijah Edwards was about 5 years old. His Mother, Lisa, texted me that she was watching him from the kitchen as he was building a fabulous monstrosity in their backyard. It was a hilarious list of things she was sending over the text. There was an old crocheted blue blanket, a stepladder, a garden hose, a hula hoop, a stick….etc…etc..I think I may have quipped that he was going to be like Doc Brown from
BACK TO THE FUTURE.

It being my day off, I instantly hopped over to my new recording/songwriting setup with the Loop Station, the Taylor T5, an SM 58 microphone and a 12 Track Behringer Soundboard all going into a CD Burner. I wrote down the list of things Elijah was using and then let my imagination piggyback on what he was doing. Damn, was this a fun piece of music to create! I got it done rather quickly and drove it over to Lisa as fast as I could. That’s a cool memory. The fact that the Elijah in ‘CLOSER!’ equates the sound of his Mother’s screaming with “The Siren Song of Sanctity” made me laugh out loud when I wrote it down.
