IVY

My friend Hilltoast had a cute little best friend named Ivy. Totally adorable, and all of maybe 17 when I met her. You don’t meet a lot of Ivy’s, so you don’t forget them. I used to do the same joke that I’m sure everyone told her, that she was ‘growing on me’. Then I figured I’m just going to write that down no matter how corny it is. I was in Flipper Dave at the time. Davey thought it was a bit Counting Crow-ish and they were the biggest band in the world at that time. So, we learned it and played it every night. We never got to record an album while I was there, so I hung on to it until 1997 when The ROASTERS recorded it. It was pretty much a song that you couldn’t mess with too much, so we kept the exact format and just added Greg’s keyboards. Voila! Ivy!
Greg Marshall on keyboards, John Macbeth on rhythm guitar, Mark Ahles on drums and Chuck Palmer on bass. Recorded at Talcott Mountain Studios.
